Where does the time go?

27, November 2008

Devine Hospitality celebrates five years in Business today. This year saw a significant number of changes. The delightful Denise Kierans joined us for her internship from DkIT and she quickly became part of the team. She worked exceptionally hard on the Green Party Ard Fheis in Dundalk back in April and her input made a huge difference.

February saw us work with the Louth County Enterprise Board to create a gala ball and award ceremony to celebrate 10 years of the Louth County Enterprise Board. It was wonderful to see so many fabulous businesses in Louth doing so well and taking some time to enjoy their successes.

In June Rachel Barrett, who worked so hard on Bellewstown Races in 2007 before returning to college, came back to us. She had completed fourth year in Event Management in DkIT and achieved fabulous results. She brings a breath of fresh air to the company and is highly creative and enthusiastic.

Bellewstown Races was another roaring success this year with a selection of wonderful sponsors and great special focus days such as the City North Hotel Ladies Day, the d Hotel Hanging with Hector Day and the family day for parents and children. Bellewstown Races, under the stewardship of Chairman Jim Corcoran, continues to grow and develop a little every year but never loosing that warm and friendly local feeling.

The Autumn just featured one great event after another. A pinnacle of the Autumn was the launch of the massive new extension to Anglo Printers printworks in Mell and their celebration of 25 years in business. This superb Drogheda based company, run by Padraic and Peter Kierans, had much to celebrate and did so in style. It was a fabulous experience for guests to be able to see the printworks in full flow and to see behind the scenes at this business local enterprise.

November just isnt November without the Drogheda Business Excellence Awards and Chamber President Patricia Rooney certainly stamped her mark on the event. It was stylish, pacy and it showcased all that is good in Drogheda. The announcement of €500K in state funding and a site from Drogheda Borough Council for the development of a purpose built enterprise centre for Drogheda was a huge surprise to all. There were a host of worthy winners and the dancing went on to the wee small hours of the morning ... no change there then!

And now, here we are at the end of November, just trying to catch our breath. We have the McEvoy and Associates Christmas Party and the fabulous Balbriggan Chamber Ball to look forward to in the coming weeks. We plan to have a Christmas Coffee with friends, clients and suppliers to celebrate our 5th birthday - we will keep you posted. In the meantime, thanks so much for your support over the last five years ... we can't thank you enough!
